RARET

Layout and Design

In Glória do Ribatejo, Portugal, 196 hectares are now abandoned on land that was once used as one of the largest radio stations for Free Europe during the Cold War. Over the years, RARET, employed hundreds of people from the county and surroundings, transforming this complex into a small “village” where a school, sports fields, a swimming pool, a residential area for displaced employees, a maternity unit, a health center were built. With doctors and nurses 24 hours a day and even a “supermarket” that offered a series of inaccessible products at the time.
